How Does a Roller Type Chain Stopper Work?

The CB 286-84 bar type chain stopper is normally installed in the anchor chain path between the anchor windlass and hawse pipe.

During anchor handling, the locking bar is opened so that the anchor chain can move through the stopper.

Once the anchor reaches the required position and chain length, the operating bar is moved into its locking position. The locking component engages the anchor chain and mechanically restricts its movement.

The chain stopper can then transfer the anchor chain load into the vessel’s deck structure, helping relieve continuous load from the windlass brake and transmission system.
